Harvest of Color
An ode to color & everyday things
Peppi Kankkunen
Hello!Color has fascinated me for as long as I can remember, but my love of painting truly took root during my design studies, in color theory and life drawing classes. I discovered a new freedom in creative expression, and painting has been part of my life alongside my design work ever since, gradually taking shape as different collections.
As a graphic designer, I create with a purpose: solving problems, shaping meaning and considering what I want visual communication to achieve. Painting gives me a counterbalance—a space where creativity doesn’t have to solve anything. I can follow color, feeling and intuition, and give expression as much room as it wants.
Perhaps that’s why I love a sense of abundance in art. The way a painting rich in color can shift the mood of an entire room and make even a minimal space bloom with personality.
I’m also drawn to how personal art can be: the work that speaks to us, and the pieces we choose to live with, always reveal something about who we are.

In States of Her, magical realism meets symbolism.
The women in these portraits inhabit a space between reality and imagination, where flowers, colors, shapes and unexpected details take on symbolic meaning.
The paintings explore feelings, thoughts and experiences that may not show on the outside, yet form entire worlds beneath the surface.
Here, reality is allowed to stretch, and the everyday becomes a little otherworldly. Surreal elements bring the inner world into view while leaving room for the viewer’s own interpretations.

Harvest of Color is a vibrant exploration of everyday things and unexpected places to find beauty and joy.
In this collection of figurative paintings, familiar fruits, plants and everyday objects take on new roles amid bold colors, graphic surfaces and playful compositions.
The ordinary is allowed to be a little odd. A banana peel takes center stage, and colorful plastic waste becomes a place for flowers to grow. At its heart, the collection is a celebration of joy and an ode to color.
The paintings share a curious eye for the world around us and the belief that beauty isn’t found only in obvious places. Sometimes, the most intriguing subject is the most ordinary one—when you let your imagination run free.

Mindscapes journeys through color and form into the landscapes within.
What lies beneath the surface doesn’t cease to exist. Colors, shapes and brushstrokes that have been painted over remain part of each painting’s history, shaping what is built upon them.
In much the same way, we carry experiences, feelings and inner forces that aren’t always visible from the outside. Something hidden deeper within can still shape the paths we take and who we become.
Mindscapes explores these unseen landscapes—what happens beneath the surface before anything takes a distinct shape. The paintings leave room for intuition, chance and the viewer’s own interpretations.
